有无 factual mistake? 是否有点过分?Suggestions welcome!

I’d like to offer some (unsolicited) advices for Dr. Kass who has been posting messages on this board.

If I were Dr. Kass, I would be spending my time on damage control instead of writing posts. It is known now that in China

1) The so-called Xiao procedure had been practiced by only Dr Xiao's own team and in a hospital under his control.

2) With help of medical professionals, concerned journalists have interviewed many children who had been treated by the procedure. They found no convincing case that shows the procedure has the promised curing effect. Instead, there are many situations where the child’s condition becomes more miserable after the surgery. For that, families are bringing lawsuits against Dr. Xiao.

3) Dr. Fang Shiming and Mr. Fang Xuanchang, a science writer and a journalist who are at the forefront of exposing this case, were ambushed and in the latter case, savagely beaten. A police investigation concluded that Dr. Xiao was behind both life-threatening attacks.

Given the above information, anyone who is capable of thinking may conclude it is highly likely that the Xiao procedure is nothing but a fraud. Sooner or later, serious questions may be raised with Beaumont hospital, which is, as far as I know, the only US medical institution that has experimented with and marketed the procedure. It would not be surprising that should these questions arrive, doctors involved really need to claim ignorance, portraying themselves as clueless morons who were taken in by a friendly medical swindler, but Dr. Kass, you’re not being very helpful with your posting here. By telling people that you are well aware of the long-running argument between Dr. Xiao and Dr. Fang, lavishing generous testimony on Dr. Xiao’s personal character and achievements while spreading baseless rumors against Dr. Fang, you’re acting like a willing accomplice instead of a gullible victim in a (likely) fraud case. Worse, unlike people in your camp here (including this Yours Truly), you attached your true identify to these messages. This, allow me to be blunt, while courageous, is pretty dumb.

I think you need to come clean with families of children that have been recruited by your hospital for the Xiao procedure. At the minimum, you should tell them that

a). With Dr. Xiao in jail and his hospital disbanded, no one is available to perform his procedure in China, so it is no longer “standard care” there (I actually think it never was, but your team probably has a different definition of “standard” from everybody else).

b). Publications on the trial results of this procedure in your hospital have received, (mmm…., how to put it mildly?)…unfavorable peer reviews in a top-tier professional journal.

c). Dr. Xiao has been arrested for hiring hit men to attack (given the nature of these attacks, murder seems to be a more appropriate term, but hey, Dr Xiao is a gentle soul, let’s cut him some slacks here) people who were asking questions about his procedure.

You may also want to volunteer this information to your hospital administrators, your state medical board, and your NIH grant managers, giving them a heads up about what might come and time to prepare for possible repercussions on their reputation, liability, and careers. Doing so is not only your professional and moral obligation, but also a good defense strategy. I’m not a PR expert, but somehow I have a feeling that these institutions and individuals will be more sympathetic if they learned about this drama from you first, instead of getting the information from somewhere else.

Yes, I know, this is Internet and people can post with fake id, so I cannot exclude the possibility that I am talking to an impersonator who are setting Dr. Kass up for a lot of trouble. If so, let me give you a pat on the back for really succeeding in what you are doing, but a funny look for being so obnoxious.
