while it's common a 2nd rendition by another singer also get comparable or even better sreviews, it's hard for any1 to accept a 2nd version in a different non-native language, the head usually is already biased, unless the original version was really bad. i couldn't say that about jacky cheung's, in fact it was such a success that polygram didn't even consider making an extra cantonese version for HK market, which HK singers usually do.
